continuing focus of agency representatives, scientists, stakeholders,
and decision-makers. Join us for a three-day conference where
individuals involved in the science and management of the Basin can
learn about and discuss the latest relevant scientific information and
results. This conference brings together professionals involved in the
Lake Tahoe Basin, providing an excellent opportunity for networking,
education, and the exchange of ideas and information.

This symposium is sponsored in part by a National Science Foundation
grant awarded to the Nevada System of Higher Education that is dedicated
to understanding environmental processes close to earth’s surface. This
conference will bring together agency, academic, and stakeholder
representatives, and will provide the opportunity for networking,
education, and the exchange of new ideas and information. The program
will consist of technical presentations and will include a field trip to
the Weighing Lysimeter Facility in Boulder City. We encourage all those
working in the area of near-surface processes, including natural
recharge, to attend the event.

2008 TRUCKEE RIVER TOUR
6th ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL EDUCATIONAL TOUR
April 24-25, 2008
From Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, the Truckee River flows just over
one hundred miles and is a microcosm of Western water issues. Life blood
of northwestern Nevada, the Truckee River is rich in history and
controversy. Stakeholders on the River include cities, farmers,
wetlands, endangered fish, Native Americans, two states and the federal
government.
This two-day field study course will cover hydrology, water quality
deterioration and remediation, endangered species, water flow regulation
under the Orr Ditch Decree and Truckee River Agreement, hydropower
generation, channel restoration, flood control planning, legal issues,
negotiated solutions, and the future of the Truckee River under the
Truckee River Operation Agreement (TROA).
This is a full two-day field course by bus, covering the entire
length of the Truckee River.
Space permitting, there is flexibility for individuals to sign up for
one day only.
Seating is limited, and there is a moderate amount of walking
involved.
