2026 NWRA Tour Of Cortez with Nevada Gold Mines

Cortez Gold Mine is a large gold mining and processing facility in Lander and Eureka County, Nevada, United States, located approximately 63 miles (100 km) southwest of Elko. It is part of Nevada Gold Mines (NGM), a joint venture between Barrick Mining Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Corporation (38.5%) and operated by Barrick.  Cortez comprises the Pipeline, Crossroads, and Cortez Hills open pit mines; and the Cortez Hills and Goldrush underground mines. Ore from the mines is treated at an oxide mill at the site and on leach pads, while refractory ore is transported to NGM’s Goldstrike operation for processing. A mix of traditional and modern open pit and underground mining techniques are currently being used to extract minerals. We will see firsthand a world-class mining operation with:

• Pit overlook to view open pit operations - this will include geology of the area
• Dewatering wells
• Dewatering infrastructure
• Dewatering Rapid Infiltration Basin
• Haul trucks and potentially other equipment that may be available on the ready line

This year’s event will consist of an evening session with speakers followed by a full day tour the next day.

Event Registration fee includes evening presentation, tour transportation, informative handouts and lunch. Participants are responsible for their own hotel reservation (if needed) and transportation to the departure location.
